Community Hub Resources For All Meetings and Conferences A unique venue Situated on the edge of the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and located in the heart of the thriving market town of Malton, The Wesley Centre will be one of the largest conference and events venues in North and East Yorkshire – outside of York, and towns on Yorkshire’s east coast. The unique amphitheatre central space of the Wesley Centre For corporate users, our unique main space will accommodate up to 550 delegates or attendees for large events. And apart from this large central space of The Wesley Centre, we’ll also be able to offer three other meeting rooms for more intimate meetings, break-out sessions or for smaller events, accommodating from 15 to 75 people. Our Grade II* listed building was originally used as a 700-seat public meeting space for the Methodist Church, so hosting successful events will be integral to who we are. While the Wesley Centre continues to be owned by the Methodist Church, it will be a venue that’s open all day, and every day for meetings, one day conferences or special events – and for the entire community to use. With its fine natural acoustic and cubic amphitheatre form, the Wesley Centre will also be used as a 550 seat concert hall, equipped with a large Forster & Andrews historic pipe organ and a Steinway/ Yamaha concert grand piano – and also able to accommodate large choirs and chamber orchestras. It's easy getting here by rail Malton railway station is just 350 metres away, south of the Wesley Centre, via Railway Street. The station provides direct services to Scarborough, York, Leeds, Manchester, Manchester Airport and Liverpool. From York there are services to London (1 hour 50 minutes) and to Edinburgh (2 hours), and on to Aberdeen, Inverness and the Highlands of Scotland. The current hourly Trans Pennine Express service will be supplemented by an additional hourly service operated by Northern Rail from December 2018. The Transdev Coastliner bus depot situated opposite the Railway Station is a hub for the region, operating services every thirty minutes to Scarborough and other east coast towns such as Whitby, Filey and Bridlington, and west to York and Leeds. The Coastliner service between Malton and Whitby across the North York Moors has been voted by users of TripAdvisor as the most scenic in the whole of the UK! Car parking In terms of access, there are few town and city centre public buildings that can claim to have dedicated parking. Malton benefits from free 2-hour car parking for approximately 130 vehicles within the adjoining Market Street and surrounds (provided by the Fitzwilliam Malton Estate Company). In addition, a total of 490 spaces are provided by Ryedale District Council at its Wentworth Street and Water Lane Car Parks, at affordable rates for all-day parking. These are located just 300 metres and 100 metres respectively from the Church in Saville Street. Chapel Lane (a cul-de-sac directly to the rear of the Church) provides alternative access for set-down purposes and turning, which is especially useful for those with special needs. Meetings technology To ensure that our clients’ meetings run as efficiently as possible, we'll have excellent audio visual facilities and IT infrastructure on every floor of the Wesley Centre. You’ll be able to benefit from enhanced free Wi-Fi, improved internet cabling, and fibre optic connectivity throughout the building. All our meeting rooms will also feature a convenient touch-screen so in-room AV equipment can be controlled through a simple interface. Our onsite AV partner for special events will additionally provide a range of standard audio visual packages that can be tailored to suit each meeting room’s unique layout and acoustics. These include video, audio, and sound – with bespoke technical solutions also available if needed. Catering for your event We’ll provide an extensive selection of catering options in each of our meeting rooms, to help your delegates stay refreshed and productive. This includes a wide selection of breakfast and lunch items, as well as afternoon tea and an extensive range of hot beverages, pressés and soft drinks. Get in touch and ask for further details.
